Hokkaido Happy Hour: Cucumber Yuzu Mojito
Originating in Havana, Cuba, it is said that the original Mojito was a medicinal drink to curb disease. A moonshine rum-style alcohol was mixed with mint, lime, and sugar cane syrup to ward off illness.
Rumor has it that the pirates who invaded the island swapped out rum for moonshine, and the drink eventually got the name “Mojito” after the African word “Mojo”, meaning magic. Many years later Ernest Hemingway helped popularize the drink, and the rest is history.
INGREDIENTS
5-10 fresh Mint leaves
3 slices of cucumber
.5 oz simple syrup
